The mass defection reportedly occurred over the weekend at the Nko Ward in Yakurr Local Government Area of the state.
500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), reports say.
The defectors were led by PDP chieftain, Brigadier General Enang Ukagu (rtd), Daily Trust reports.
The mass defection reportedly occurred over the weekend at the Nko Ward in Yakurr Local Government Area of the state.
Ukagu
is said to have revealed that he made the decision to defect because he
saw the importance of keying into the APC’s ‘change mantra.’
He
also said that the APC had proven to Nigerians that the era of good
governance and prudent management of the country’s resources is here.
The PDP has witnessed an exodus of its members since losing its 16-year ruling party status to the APC during the 2015 general elections.
